WINTHROP (CBS) – A Winthrop ferry that has confirmed to be a headache for some residents is again in service.
Winthrop devoted the Valkyrie in 2016, after shopping for the vessel for multiple million , with the assistance of federal and state cash. However service has been spotty since.
The city first suspended service in mid-June, telling residents it didn’t have the staffing to run the ferry. Days later, it mentioned that the engine malfunctioned.
On Monday, a Fb submit indicated that service was again to regular.
“Excellent day to your morning commute. The Winthrop Ferry is again. Complimentary espresso and donuts for this morning’s commuters. Welcome aboard!” the submit mentioned.
Over the past a number of years, Winthrop invested greater than $750,000 in taxpayer cash to get the town-owned ferry operational.
